South32 (ASX:S32) said that payable copper-equivalent production from the Sierra Gorda project in Chile came in at 21,900 tonnes in the June quarter, up 19% from the 18,400 tonnes in the prior-year quarter, according to a Monday Australian bourse filing.
Payable copper-equivalent sales during the period increased 18% year-on-year to come in at 18,100 tonnes.
Payable copper-equivalent production increased 20% to 88,100 tonnes in fiscal 2025, exceeding the guidance of 84,800 tonnes by 4%. It revised down its payable copper equivalent production guidance for fiscal 2026 to 84,700 tonnes from 86,100 tonnes, reflecting expected metal grades.
The Brazil aluminum operation continued to ramp up, per the filing. Production in the fourth fiscal quarter from the operation jumped 36% year-on-year to clock in at 38,000 tonnes, while sales jumped 53% to 46,000 tonnes.
Meanwhile, production for its Hillside aluminum operation in South Africa came in at 181,000 tonnes in the June quarter, up 1% year-over-year, and sales were up 5% over the period to 194,000 tonnes.
The Mozal aluminum operation in Mozambique operated near nameplate capacity in the fourth fiscal quarter, producing 90,000 tonnes of aluminum, jumping 17% year-over-year. It reported aluminum sales of 105,000 tonnes, up 4% over the same period.
It reported production of 334,000 tonnes from the Brazil alumina operation during the same period, compared with 333,000 tonnes a year earlier. Meanwhile, alumina sales from the operation fell 6% year-over-year to 335,000 tonnes.
It reported production of 936,000 tonnes of alumina from its Worsley project in Western Australia during the quarter, rising 2% year-over-year, while sales from the project came in at 1 million tonnes, up 3% year-over-year.
The Australia manganese operation resumed export shipments during the quarter, recovering from the impacts caused by Tropical Cyclone Megan. The compay reported 467,000 wet metric tonnes of production in the period and 253,000 wet metric tonnes of sales.
The company's shares were up over 1% in recent Monday trade.
