Dow Jones
Jul 23, 2025
1715 ET - Cal-Maine investors are seeing a payoff from the egg producer's soaring profit. Cal-Maine pays a quarterly dividend equal to a third of its net income for that quarter, which has jumped this fiscal year as the avian flu squeezed egg supply. The company's new dividend is $2.35 a share, up from 77 cents a year earlier, thanks to net income tripling from the prior-year quarter. Though the payout is down from $3.46 a share the previous quarter sequentially. Cal-Maine has logged spikes in both revenue and profit over the past year as the price of a dozen eggs increased 55%. Shares rise 4% in after-hours trading. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
