Canopius names Pinnington to lead marine and energy treaty, confirms Wright hire

By Ashish Tiwari

July 21 - (The Insurer) - Canopius Group has promoted Ben Pinnington to head of marine and energy treaty and confirmed the appointment of Imogen Wright to the team, the company said on Monday.

The Insurer was the first to report earlier this month that Wright had resigned as vice president at Guy Carpenter after Rod Loten left his role as marine treaty underwriter at Canopius to join Allied World.

Wright spent three years in the marine reinsurance team at Guy Carpenter, prior to which she was a reinsurance broker at Miller.

She will join Canopius on October 13.

Canopius also announced on Monday that Pinnington assumed his new role as head of marine and energy treaty earlier this month.

He began his career at AmTrust Syndicate 1861 before transitioning to Canopius after its acquisition of the syndicate. He has worked in marine treaty reinsurance since 2021.

Pinnington succeeds Claire Wallace, who exited the role earlier this year to join Tokio Marine Kiln, which has since expanded its marine treaty operations with the hire of former TransRe underwriter Emily Townsend, as first reported by The Insurer.
