A US senator is seeking further details from the US Defense Department about what information the military shared with China-based engineers in connection with a computing services contract with Microsoft (MSFT), Reuters reported Thursday, citing a letter from the lawmaker.
In the letter, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Arkansas, asked Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to disclose "the discovery of potential security incidents or malicious events that have already occurred or are likely to occur," the report said.
The senator also asked if Microsoft had been required to conduct self-audits of the program, as well as the results of such audits had been performed, the report said.
On Friday, Microsoft said it will no longer use China-based engineers to provide technical support to the US military.
Microsoft and Cotton's office didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
