RLI Corporation has reported its second quarter 2025 financial results, highlighting an increase in net earnings to $124.3 million, or $1.34 per share, compared to $82.0 million, or $0.89 per share, for the second quarter of 2024. Operating earnings for the same period were $78.1 million, or $0.84 per share, slightly down from $79.3 million, or $0.86 per share, in the second quarter of 2024. The company achieved underwriting income of $62.2 million with a combined ratio of 84.5. Notably, there was a $24.4 million net increase in underwriting income due to favorable development in prior years' loss reserves. Gross premiums written remained flat while net investment income rose by 16%. RLI's book value per share increased by 16% from year-end 2024 to $18.89, inclusive of dividends. The company has also been recognized as one of the insurance industry's top-performing companies for the 35th consecutive year by Ward Benchmarking. RLI remains the only property & casualty insurance company to be named a Ward's 50® P&C Top Performer every year since the list's inception in 1991.
