Shares of Alreus Financial surged after the company posted better-than-expected second-quarter earnings that doubled profit from the prior year.
The stock was up 11% at $24 and is up 25% so far this year.
The North Dakota-based financial services company reported net income of $20.3 million, or 78 cents a share, up from $6.2 million, or 31 cents a share. Adjusted earnings were 72 cents a share, beating analysts' expectations of 55 cents a share.
Alreus said its return on average total assets was 1.53%, up from 0.58% the previous year.
The company increased its quarterly dividend by 5% from the first quarter to 21 cents a share.
