Alibaba Group Holding (HKG:9988) has entered China's smart glasses market with the debut of its first AI-powered eyewear, the Quark AI glasses, at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, the South China Morning Post reported Saturday.

The device, named after Alibaba's in-house AI assistant, was showcased to the public for the first time, it said.

The company said development has been completed and a commercial launch is planned later this year, though no timeline was disclosed, according to the report.

The launch is part of Alibaba's broader push into artificial intelligence, SCMP wrote. In February, the company pledged to invest $53 billion in AI infrastructure over the next three years.
