Samsung SDI's Earnings Likely to Remain Weak Through 3Q -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Jul 30

0150 GMT - Samsung SDI's earnings are expected to remain weak through 3Q, following results that will likely miss expectations in the prior quarter, Daiwa Capital analysts S.K. Kim and Daekoon Kim say in a note. They forecast that the South Korean battery maker will report a 2Q operating loss on an estimated 22% year-over-year decline in revenue. Persistent weak demand from U.S. electric-vehicle customers and a slowdown in profitability for the tariff-hit energy-storage-system segment are weighing on the company, they note. Daiwa lowers its 2026 EPS forecast for Samsung SDI by 28% to reflect its delayed earnings improvement. (kwanwoo.jun@wsj.com)
