2329 GMT [Dow Jones]--Sandfire Resources is edging closer to restarting dividends, reckons Canaccord Genuity. Sandfire last made a payout to shareholders during FY 2022. It suspended dividends after taking on debt to acquire the MATSA project in Spain and advance the development of the Motheo copper mine in Botswana. Canaccord notes that Sandfire plans to update investors on its capital management policy next month. Sandfire has built up a franking credit balance of $260 million. Franking credits are a local tax benefit in Australia. "We forecast dividends starting from the 1H of FY 2026 result," analyst Timothy Hoff says. Canaccord has a buy call on Sandfire.
