IDEX Corporation has recently expanded its portfolio by acquiring Micro-LAM, Inc., an advanced manufacturer specializing in laser-assisted machining, ultra-precision diamond tools, and custom optics. This acquisition enhances IDEX's capabilities within its Health & Science Technologies segment, particularly in optical technologies. Micro-LAM operates subsidiaries 603 OPTX and M10 Edge, which will bolster IDEX's offerings in industries such as aerospace, defense, and optics. The company's innovative OPTIMUS system, which utilizes a hybrid laser-diamond cutting tool, allows for smoother and more precise material cuts, reducing the need for additional processing. Founded in 2012 as a spinoff from Western Michigan University, Micro-LAM will continue to be led by its founder, Dr. Deepak Menon, as it integrates into IDEX's diverse business operations.
