在本周美联储连续第五次维持基准利率不变的决议中，沃勒和鲍曼均投下了反对票。他们倾向于将利率下调 25 个基点。在周五发布的各自声明中，两人解释了自己反对的理由，均强调劳动力市场出现疲软迹象。
他们的观点与鲍威尔及其他政策制定者不同。鲍威尔等人仍然认为劳动力市场整体稳健，支持在调整利率方面保持耐心。
沃勒表示：“我认为当前这种观望的态度过于谨慎，在我看来，没有正确平衡经济前景的风险，可能导致政策落后于形势变化。”他指出，考虑到未来的数据修正以及私营部门就业增长停滞，劳动力市场面临的下行风险正在上升。
