Silex Systems (ASX:SLX) said Global Laser Enrichment (GLE), the exclusive licensee of its uranium enrichment technology, has been invited to bid for up to $900 million under Task Order 2 of the US Department of Energy's low-enriched uranium enrichment acquisition program, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.

GLE has until Aug. 25 to submit its proposal, the filing said.

The company said any funding awarded could help offset costs for GLE owners, towards building a laser enrichment facility in the US, the filing added.

Shares of Silex Systems rose past 1% in recent Monday trade.
