GreenPower Motor (GP) said Monday it was awarded a contract to implement an all-electric bus pilot project by the state of New Mexico.
The contract between GreenPower and the state provides over $5 million for the purchase of vehicles, cost of charging infrastructure, and overall management of the pilot, the company said.
The two-year pilot project will deploy three GreenPower type A Nano BEAST Access school buses in the first school year, and three GreenPower type D BEAST and Mega BEAST school buses in the second school year, according to a statement.
Under the contract, GreenPower said it will install charging systems and provide training for the drivers, mechanics and the community's first responder.
GreenPower said it is partnering with Highland Electric Fleets to install and implement the charging infrastructure necessary for the pilot.
