Microsoft (MSFT) is facing an antitrust investigation into its business practices in Brazil following a complaint by Opera (OPRA) over the company's Edge browser, the regulator said late Thursday.

Opera alleged in its complaint on Tuesday that Microsoft gives Edge an "unfair advantage" by making it the default browser across Windows devices.

Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, has given Microsoft until Aug. 15 to address the allegations outlined in the initial complaint and provide detailed information about Windows licensing, Microsoft 365, and the Jumpstart program, the regulator said in a notice to Microsoft published on its website late Thursday.

Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
