Microsoft (MSFT) Exchange's email system vulnerabilities were allegedly exploited by US intelligence agencies in cyberattacks against China, according to a Friday statement from the Asian country's cybersecurity incident response organization.
China's National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team alleged that US intelligence agencies exploited a zero-day vulnerability in the email systems to control the email server of a major military industrial enterprise from July 2022 to July 2023.
China accused US intelligence agencies of cyberattacks on its defense-related universities, research institutes, and enterprises in attempts to steal sensitive information, according to the statement.
Microsoft did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
