Jardine Matheson's Next CEO Could Boost Shareholder Returns -- Market Talk

0235 GMT - Conglomerate Jardine Matheson's incoming CEO Lincoln Pan is likely to sharpen the group's focus on shareholder returns, say Citi analysts in a note. Pan has "extensive experience in private equity investments" that could enable the group to deliver stronger returns within its five-year timeline, they say. Jardine Matheson is targeting progressive dividends and growth in share net asset value. The analysts expect Jardine Matheson to receive most of the cash from its subsidiaries' assets sales, which should help the group reduce debt and boost its share price. Citi raises its target price for Jardine Matheson to US$62.50 from US$46.50, while maintaining its buy rating on the stock, which is 0.5% higher at US$56.26. (megan.cheah@wsj.com)
