Shares of Qantas Airways (ASX:QAN) fell 0.4% in recent Monday trade, while those of Virgin Australia Holdings (ASX:VGN) were flat amid Koala Airlines' plans to enter the domestic airline industry in Australia.
The airline is finalizing negotiations to acquire a fleet that will allow its air operator's certificate to be upgraded with the new aircraft type, its website showed.
Koala Airlines did not specify a timeline on its website for the launch, but the Australian Financial Review reported Monday, citing Chief Executive Bill Astling, that the company is on track to launch operations late in 2026.
