IT之家 8 月 7 日消息，苏格兰爱丁堡一位女士的 LG K8 手机在充电时引发了火灾，最终制造商为此支付了巨额的赔偿金。
据英国广播公司（BBC）报道，爱丁堡治安法院的法官裁定，LG K8 智能手机在充电时引发了火灾，并判决 LG 赔偿 15 万英镑（IT之家注：现汇率约合 143.7 万元人民币）。这笔赔偿金大部分将支付给该女士的保险公司，但她本人也因吸入烟雾以及由此带来的心理健康影响获得了相应的补偿。
火灾于 2018 年 10 月 31 日在机主丹尼斯・帕克斯（Denise Parks）的客厅发生，当时她的 LG 手机正在使用配套的充电器进行充电。虽然附近还有另一部手机和一台笔记本电脑也在充电，但法官最终认定 LG 手机是火灾的源头。他指出，该手机未能达到基本的安全标准，并存在缺陷。
火灾发生时，帕克斯和她的丈夫正在楼上睡觉。丹尼斯因吸入烟雾接受了治疗，并在火灾后出现了严重焦虑和惊恐发作的情况，导致她数月无法工作。
这部手机是由她的雇主发放的，诉讼对象是 LG 电子英国有限公司。尽管该事件发生在 2018 年，但直到最近，赔偿判决才最终确定。值得注意的是，LG 在 2021 年已经关闭了其手机业务部门。
