American Well Corporation, also known as Amwell, has announced an extension of its contract with the U.S. Defense Health Agency as part of a Leidos-led partnership. This extension is for the Military Health System's Digital First Program, which aims to enhance the delivery of connected and seamless in-person and virtual care for military personnel. The Amwell platform, which has been integrated with the MHS GENESIS electronic health record system, will continue to provide virtual care solutions to approximately 9.6 million MHS beneficiaries. Since its deployment, the platform has facilitated nearly triple the number of virtual visits compared to the previous MHS Video Connect solution and expanded its reach to include the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command. This initiative is expected to improve healthcare access, reduce costs, and optimize clinical resource utilization across the global Department of Defense enterprise.
