SMC Profit Drops 29% in Fiscal Q1

SMC's (TYO:6273) profit attributable to owners of the parent dropped 29% to 34.6 billion yen in the fiscal first quarter from 48.7 billion yen a year earlier.

The industrial automation company's basic earnings per share fell to 543.79 yen from 759.43 yen a year ago, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Friday.

Net sales slipped 1.3% to 200.2 billion yen for the three months ended June 30 from 202.8 billion yen in the year-ago corresponding period.

For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, the company expects attributable profit of 167 billion yen, basic EPS of 2,620.27 yen, and net sales of 850 billion yen.

The company expects to pay interim and year-end dividends of 500 yen per share each for the fiscal year.
