Sector Update: Energy Stocks Rise Pre-Bell Friday

Energy stocks were rising pre-bell Friday, with the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) up 0.6%.

The United States Oil Fund (USO) was 0.4% higher and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was down 0.9%.

Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was flat at $63.88 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil gained 0.2% to $66.56 per barrel, and natural gas futures were down 0.6% at $3.05 per 1 million British Thermal Units.

Plains All American Pipeline (PAA) stock was 0.1% lower after the company posted a decline in Q2 revenue.

Plains GP (PAGP) shares were down 0.8% after the company reported lower Q2 net income and revenue.

MPLX (MPLX) shares were up 1.5% after the company priced a $4.5 billion public offering of unsecured senior notes.
