英国央行行长安德鲁·贝利表示，他对市场削减对未来降息的押注并不感到意外，并表示形势“十分微妙平衡”。
在接受采访时，贝利重申了利率将继续下行的观点，但表示现在对于“何时采取措施”存在更多不确定性。
就在贝利发表上述言论的几个小时前，英国央行以比预期更为接近的投票结果将基准利率降至两年多来的最低水平，这促使货币市场下调了对英国央行未来降息幅度的押注。交易员目前认为，11月降息的可能性不到50%。
在8月会议上，货币政策委员会（MPC）的五名委员投票支持将利率下调25个基点至4%，四名委员支持维持利率不变。由于英国通胀回升，劳动力市场正在降温，官员们在利率走向上存在严重分歧。
投票结果的分歧“很好地反映了这一经过精心权衡的决定，”贝利表示，“我给市场的讯息是，不要过度解读。”
他补充道：“当前对未来的押注更像是一半一半，我认为这反映了一种微妙的平衡。这并不让我感到惊讶。”
