Tesla Robotaxi LLC 现已被列入持牌交通网络公司，加入 Uber Technologies Inc.、Lyft Inc. 等公司的行列。这项牌照已成必需，因为该州 9 月 1 日生效的新法对自动驾驶网约车实施的监管与人类司机驾驶网约车等同。新政对自动驾驶汽车运营商增加额外的许可、监管和要求。
目前，德州法律要求自动驾驶车辆配备摄像头、保险，并具备遵守交通规则的能力。特斯拉 6 月已在奥斯汀启动自动驾驶网约车服务试点，使用少量配备安全监控员的 Model Y 车型，向一小部分用户提供乘车服务。
