BlackSky Technology Inc. has announced a significant advancement in space domain awareness with a new seven-figure contract to expand its Gen-2 space domain awareness capabilities in collaboration with HEO. This contract will focus on providing fully-automated low-latency non-Earth imaging (NEI) services, catering to defense, intelligence, and commercial needs. The contract progresses into its fourth phase, following the successful automation of the tasking-to-delivery process. BlackSky's high-resolution Gen-2 satellites will leverage their high-cadence monitoring capabilities to enhance the capture of NEI data, particularly over the middle latitudes of Earth. HEO's software platform will autonomously identify imaging opportunities, allowing the satellites to detect, track, and classify on-orbit objects and assess potential threats. This rapid tasking and delivery of NEI is aimed at bolstering critical space domain awareness applications, such as constellation monitoring and anomaly detection.
