LKQ named John Mendel board chairman effective immediately.
The auto-parts distributor said Thursday that Mendel succeeds Guhan Subramanian, who plans to retire. Subramanian will remain with the company as a director through the end of the year.
Subramanian became chairman in May 2022 and is currently a professor at Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School.
The company has been refreshing its board and identified Mendel, a director since August 2018, as the right candidate to take the top position, LKQ said.
Mendel previously served as executive vice president of the automotive division of American Honda Motor from November 2004 until his retirement in April 2017. Before that, he spent nearly three decades at Ford Motor.
