智通财经APP获悉，据报道，美国联邦能源监管委员会(FERC)本周批准了新纪元能源(NEE.US)的申请，即在2029年底前重启爱荷华州杜安阿诺德核电站。
新纪元能源于2020年关闭了这座600兆瓦的发电厂，原因是其在财务上已无法与天然气和可再生能源竞争，因为这两种能源是更经济的发电来源。但由于电力需求激增和联邦政府提供大量新的税收减免，核能变得更有价值了。
该公司可以在2028年底之前让杜安阿诺德核电站恢复运行，但它请求FERC额外给予一年的时间，以便该电厂能够在设备获取或维修出现延误的情况下恢复运行。
新纪元能源是美国最大的可再生能源发电企业之一，但根据7月份颁布的《大而美法案》，对风能和太阳能的补贴将会被取消。首席执行官John Ketchum在公司最新财报电话会议上表示，杜安阿诺德核电站“可以成为我们未来继续拓展业务的多种途径之一”。
该公司预计今年将投入5000万至1亿美元用于重启杜安阿诺德核电站，并表示正在与可能从该电厂购买产品的潜在客户进行洽谈。
