Kilmar Abrego Garcia was arrested by immigration authorities at an ICE field office in Baltimore where he was set to be deported, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Monday.
"Today, ICE law enforcement arrested Kilmar Abrego Garcia and are processing him for deportation," Noem said in a post on X.
"President Trump is not going to allow this illegal alien, who is an MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, serial domestic abuser, and child predator to terrorize American citizens any longer."
In a court filing Saturday, Abrego Garcia's lawyers said immigration-enforcement officials gave notice that he could be deported to Uganda.
Garcia's lawyers could not be immediately contacted for comment.
Garcia turned down a government deal to deport him to Costa Rica if he agreed to plead guilty to human smuggling charges.
