US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said Tuesday that Trump administration military officials are "thinking about" the government acquiring equity stakes in Lockheed Martin (LMT) and other top defense contractors, CNBC reported Tuesday.

Lutnick's comments follow the government's move last week to acquire a 10% stake in Intel (INTC).

Lutnick said in an interview that Lockheed, which makes most of its revenue from federal contracts, is "basically an arm of the US government," according to the report

Lockheed Martin didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
