据华尔街日报，中国芯片公司及AI开发商正在壮大本土技术储备，以填补英伟达在中国销售遇阻所留下的空白，目前阿里巴巴正开发一款比旧款芯片功能更强大的新芯片。据悉，阿里巴巴之前开发的云端运算芯片大多针对特定应用设计，而目前新开发的芯片正在测试当中，旨在服务更广泛的AI推理任务，而且与英伟达兼容。受制裁影响，新的芯片不再由台积电代工，转为由国内一家企业代工。
