Duolingo Could Struggle Without Its Social Media Guru -- Market Talk

0955 ET - The exit of Duolingo's social media mastermind Zaria Parvez could make the company's marketing far more challenging, D.A. Davidson analyst Wyatt Swanson says. Parvez brought Duolingo from 50,000 to nearly 17 million followers on TikTok and fueled more than 8 billion-plus organic impressions across social media platforms, Swanson says. He believes Duolingo is not putting such a high focus on posting viral/edgy content, and thinks that when it does start putting in an effort to post again, the content may be met with negativity. "Without Zaria Parvez, it may be just that much more challenging to grow social once Duolingo starts aiming for virality again," Swanson says. (nicholas.miller@wsj.com)
