Copart logged higher profit in its latest quarter as sales rose, driven by a jump in service revenue.

The platform for online car auctions on Thursday posted a profit of $396.4 million, or 41 cents a share, compared with $322.6 million, or 33 cents a share, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 5.2% to $1.13 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $1.14 billion.

Service revenue, which makes up most of the company's top line, rose 7.1%, offsetting a 4% decline in vehicle sales.
