Qantas Airways Ltd. has announced a major expansion of its trans-Tasman operations, introducing the airline's first A220 international service between Brisbane and Wellington, and a new direct Jetstar route from Brisbane to Queenstown. This expansion will add hundreds of thousands of additional seats between Australia and New Zealand, enhancing customer choice and supporting tourism and economic growth. The A220 aircraft will debut on Qantas' international network in February 2026, operating up to three times a week and replacing current E190 and some Boeing 737 services. This move is part of a broader growth strategy that will see the Qantas Group offering nearly 800,000 more seats in the 2026 financial year.
