韩国国家安保室室长魏圣洛12日就300多名韩国公民被美国移民部门拘押七后获释回国一事表示，从长远角度出发，政府将积极与美方协商，通过修改美国国内法为韩国专业人才设立专门配额或新设签证类别等。
魏圣洛当天在首尔龙山总统府召开记者会介绍分阶段解决韩国人赴美签证问题的方案时表示，政府短期将争取美方明确商务签证（B1）和旅行授权电子系统（ESTA）适用指南；中期将完善现有签证制度，如缩短签证发放时间、减少拒签风险、扩大可适用于小规模承包商的签证类型等；长期将争取美方修法新设签证类别。
魏圣洛表示，可以明确的是美国总统特朗普下达“修改签证制度”的指示，双方正就新设工作组事宜进行工作磋商。对于美方新设适用于韩国专业人才的工作签证（E-4）配额问题，他说，政府将再次推进相关事宜。
另就被拘人员曾因是否戴手铐押送问题而延迟回国一事，魏圣洛表示，政府从安全和人权角度出发坚决反对。他还说，在双方协商被拘人员释放事宜过程中，美方认真听取韩方意见。
