Applied Materials Is Losing Market Share -- Market Talk

0825 ET - Mizuho analysts say in a research note that they expect Applied Materials to lose market share. The semiconductor-equipment maker's revenue is largely exposed to segments that are facing increased competition from China, the analysts say. As a result, Applied Materials is losing customers. This comes after the company last month forecast a drop in profit and revenue this quarter, hurt by challenges in China and choppy demand across end markets. Mizuho downgrades Applied Materials to neutral and lowers its price target to $175 from $200. Applied Materials is off 2% premarket. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
