Wearable Devices (WLDS) said the US Patent and Trademark Office has granted a patent for the company's technology that integrates gesture recognition and voice control.

The shares surged more than sixfold as intraday volume topped 248.9 million, compared with the daily average of almost 945,000.

Oracle (ORCL) shares jumped 37%, a day after the company reported higher fiscal Q1 results and announced its contract backlog will likely exceed half a trillion dollars amid strong demand over the coming months.

Volume topped 91.6 million versus the daily average of 14.4 million.

Potbelly (PBPB) agreed to be acquired by US convenience retailer RaceTrac for $566 million in cash, or $17.12 a share.

The stock rose 31% as volume topped 13.9 million, compared with the daily average of about 240,000.
