Exchange-Traded Mixed, US Equities Rise After Midday Friday

Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded fund IWM declined while IVV rose. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) added 0.5%.

US key stock indexes gained after midday Friday, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite touching a fresh intraday high.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) each lost about 1.5%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rose 0.7%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) moved higher as well.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) shed 0.7%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) was down 0.8%.

Financial

The Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) added 0.1%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) climbed 0.3%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), fell fractionally.

Commodities

Crude oil slipped 1.3%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) shed 1.5%. Natural gas dropped 2%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) fell 1.3%.

Gold on Comex added 0.7%, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) were up 0.6%. Silver rose 2%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) gained 2%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) fell 0.1%. The Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and the iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were mixed, with the latter up 0.1%.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was up 0.4%. VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) added 0.1%, and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) fell 1.6%.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) slipped 0.1%, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were lower; iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) lost 0.5%.

Industrial

Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) shed 0.1%. Vanguard Industrials Index Fund (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were in the red.

Cryptocurrency

In midday activity, bitcoin (BTC-USD) lost 1.1%. Among cryptocurrency ETFs, ProShares Bitcoin ETF (BITO) was down 1.2%, ProShares Ether ETF (EETH) shed 2.4%, and ProShares Bitcoin & Ether Market Cap Weight ETF (BETH) declined 1.5%.
