Olin and Mitsui have agreed to end their Blue Water Alliance joint venture by the end of this year.

The two companies will continue to work together on strategic opportunities under a more flexible framework that supports Olin's evolving participation in Ethylene Dichloride, Olin said Thursday.

The decision is aimed to help Olin broaden its chlorine derivatives optionality and reduce its spot exposure to the merchant Ethylene Dichloride market, Olin Chlor Alkali Products & Vinyls President Deon Carter said. Instead, Olin is planning to grow its participation in the vinyls market.
