意法半导体公司（STMicroelectronics）周三宣布，为其位于法国图尔（Tours）的工厂投资6000万美元，计划在那里开发一条先进半导体制造技术的试点生产线。

　　这家法意合资公司表示，将在该工厂开发下一代先进工艺。根据去年10月宣布的重大重组计划，该公司一直在将旧的芯片生产线从图尔转移出去。

　　意法半导体在一份声明中表示：“该项目专注于先进的制造基础设施，并为法国和意大利的一些工厂带来了重新定义的任务，以支持他们的长期成功。”

　　这项新技术被称为面板级封装（PLP），允许意法半导体在一个大的方形面板上制造芯片，而不是小的圆形硅晶圆。

　　该公司表示，该公司目前在其位于马来西亚Muar的工厂为一家客户使用该技术，该工厂每天生产超过500万枚芯片。

　　PLP削减了芯片制造商通常在制造成本较低的亚洲生产的许多制造步骤，由于规模经济和更高的自动化程度，它们可以在欧洲生产。

　　意法半导体预计，该试点生产线将于2026年第三季度投入运营。
