Novo Nordisk (DK:NOVO.B, NVO): The drugmaker said its experimental weight-loss pill helped patients lose about as much weight as a weekly injection in a late-stage trial. Shares rose as much as 6% in Copenhagen.
Continental (XE:CON): Shares in the German tire maker slid 20% after it spun off its auto-parts supplier business. Shares in the new company, called Aumovio, slipped in Frankfurt before recovering.
Hyundai (KR:005380): The South Korean carmaker lifted its annual revenue outlook and said it plans to ramp up U.S. manufacturing. Shares rose 1.2%.
Santos (AU:STO): Australia's second-largest oil and natural-gas company said a consortium led by Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. has abandoned a $18.7 billion takeover offer. Shares slid 12%.
Volkswagen (XE:VOW3): The German automaker broke off pay talks with the United Auto Workers union at its Tennessee plant, saying it had made its "last, best" offer. Shares fell more than 1%.
