General Mills' New Product Launches Have Been Successful, CEO Says -- Market Talk

0817 ET - General Mills continues to expect a 25% increase in sales from new products this year. Product launches during the company's recent quarter were successful, CEO Jeff Harmening says in prepared remarks, "with customer acceptance, distribution and volume all tracking ahead of our expectations." The maker of Betty Crocker cake mixes is leaning into current trends to develop new products, such as Cheerios Protein cereal and Progresso Pitmaster soups, which feature bolder flavors and more protein. The company says it is supporting its new products with increased marketing and lower prices. Harmening says General Mills plans to adjust prices on roughly two-thirds of its portfolio this year, with about half of that work being completed during the recent quarter. General Mills is off 2% premarket after F1Q sales fall. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
