TransMedics Group (TMDX) said Monday it has partnered with Mercedes-Benz to roll out a fleet of specially designed V-Class vehicles for organ transportation across Italy.
The company said the initiative is part of its plan to expand its US-based National OCS Program into Europe.
The vans will be stationed in four major cities, including Milan, Rome, Padua, and Bari, and will support organ transport using its OCS technology for lungs, hearts, and livers, the company said, adding that the vehicles would be built with advanced safety features to protect organs, medical staff, and equipment during transport.
The first Italian hubs are set to launch by the end of 2025, offering round-the-clock clinical and logistical support, the company said.
The national operations will be coordinated from the Santa Giulia hub in Milan.
