The new independent cloud for Europe is backed by a planned 7.8 billion-euro ($9.18 billion) investment from e-commerce giant Amazon.
The AWS European Sovereign Cloud is scheduled to launch its first region in Brandenburg, Germany, by the end of this year. It will have no "critical dependencies" on non-European Union infrastructure, the companies said.
