SAP's national security services unit was awarded a $1 billion contract with the U.S. Army.

The Department of Defense said Thursday that the award is a firm, fixed-price contract for an end user license agreement for SAP's RISE portfolio.

The company's RISE portfolio aims to help its on-premises customers to transition their enterprise resource planning to the cloud.

Bids were solicited via the internet with one received, the Defense Department said.

Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 14, 2035.

Army Contracting Command in Rock Island Arsenal, Ill., is the contracting activity.
