BHP Group (ASX:BHP) plans to accommodate an extra 1,600 workers at its Olympic Dam copper-gold-uranium mine in South Australia for a planned maintenance shutdown in 2027, the Australian Financial Review reported on Thursday.
The capital cost of the maintenance upgrade was in the hundreds of millions, and it would be completed in less than 100 days, said Anna Wiley, BHP Copper South Australia asset president.
The construction of accommodation huts is underway in an about AU$100 million program, with Fleetwood (ASX:FWD) as a beneficiary.
