Sector Update: Financial Stocks Decline Pre-Bell Tuesday

Financial stocks were declining pre-bell Tuesday, with the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) 0.2% lower.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was down 0.4% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was 0.5% higher.

Ambac Financial Group (AMBC) shares were down more than 6% after the company said it completed the $420 million cash sale of its legacy financial guarantee businesses, Ambac Assurance and Ambac Assurance UK, to funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management.

Visa (V) stock was 0.7% higher after the company said it will launch a stablecoin prefunding pilot through Visa Direct in a bid to help businesses fund cross-border payments faster.

UBS (UBS) and Switzerland are privately open to a compromise on new capital rules, potentially clearing a path for lower requirements acceptable to both sides, Reuters reported, citing people familiar with the situation. Shares of UBS were 0.7% lower premarket.
