0317 GMT - Posco Future M may post strong 3Q cathode shipments, Nomura analyst Cindy Park writes in a note. The South Korean battery-material supplier's cathode shipments may have nearly doubled on quarter for the July-September period partly from strong sales to battery makers and car-manufacturing clients, Park says. This comes amid the Trump administration's termination of a government subsidy in 3Q likely pushing forward demand for electric vehicles in the U.S. Profitability at the company's cathode business likely improved in 3Q thanks to a reversal of inventory valuation loss amid higher lithium prices and higher utilization rates of its precursor plant in South Korea, she adds.
