-- BlackRock-owned Global Infrastructure Partners is nearing a $38 billion deal to buy utility group AES, Financial Times reports, citing people briefed on the matter.

-- The talks were at an advanced stage, but the people cautioned that negotiations could fail to yield a deal, says FT.

-- GIP declined to comment, while AES didn't immediately respond to requests seeking comment, the report says.
