NextDecade's top finance executive, Brent Wahl, is leaving the developer of natural gas liquefaction infrastructure to pursue another opportunity.

NextDecade on Wednesday said Wahl has resigned as chief financial officer effective Oct. 20 but has agreed to serve in a consultant capacity through the end of the year to assist with the transition.

Wahl, who joined NextDecade in June 2019, has been chief financial officer since February 2021.

The Houston company said it is conducting a search for a new chief financial officer, adding that Michael Mott, senior vice president of enterprise transformation, will step in as interim finance chief.
