10月8日，据报道，上月美国纽约州奥斯威戈(Oswego)铝厂火灾或导致福特汽车等车企生产中断数月。9月16日，印度Hindalco工业集团旗下诺贝丽斯(Novelis)所有的工厂发生火灾，工厂内热轧机严重受损，且该设备预计2026年一季度方能重启，这意味着未来几个月内，美国汽车制造商可能面临铝材供应紧张。据了解，诺贝丽斯供应美国汽车业约40%铝板，福特作为其最大客户，旗下F-150皮卡正是行业铝材消耗主力。
福特在声明中强调“正与诺贝丽斯紧密协作，全力探索替代方案以降低潜在干扰”，并可能会在本月发布的财报中，向投资者提示这场火灾可能带来的财务或生产影响。
除福特外，诺贝丽斯客户还涵盖丰田(TM.US)、现代及Stellantis(STLA.US)。丰田回应称“已启动与其他铝供应商的合作，虽未完全脱险但现状可控”;Stellantis正积极采取措施缓解冲击;现代则明确表示生产未受直接影响。
诺贝丽斯周一表示，为应对供应缺口，该公司已转向海外工厂并联合同业采购原料，但美国对部分来源进口铝材征收的50%关税或加剧供应链调整难度。
