AEM Profitability Unlikely to Be Weighed by Lawsuit in Near Term -- Market Talk

0424 GMT - AEM's profitability is unlikely to be weighed by a U.S. patent infringement lawsuit in the near term, says DBS Group Research analysts in commentary. Advantest Test Solutions is alleging that the Singapore semiconductor-solutions provider and its subsidiaries infringed two patents related to wafer-level test systems, but AEM has denied these claims. AEM's reaffirmed guidance signals operational stability, the analysts say. However, they warn that a drawn-out litigation process may raise legal costs and weigh on margins. "While it remains too early to gauge the duration or cost impact of the case, we continue to monitor for signs of escalation," they say. DBS retains its buy rating and S$2.10 target on AEM, which falls 7.8% to S$1.88. (megan.cheah@wsj.com)
